MedDiet Capitalization: in Imperia the signature of the Declaration on Mediterranean Diet

A Declaration which expresses the official commitment of international institutions in the protection, promotion and enhancement of the Mediterranean Diet being Unesco World Heritage since 2010. The signing will be performed by ministries and other institutions of the 6 countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon) involved in the strategic project "MedDiet - Mediterranean Diet and enhancement of traditional products" funded by the European Union under the ENPI CBC MED Programme 2007-2013 in the occasion of MedDiet national and international capitalization events and thanks to the networks of ASCAME and AIC Forum. The signing of the Declaration on the Mediterranean Diet will take place Saturday, November 15th, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Andrea Olivero, in occasion of MedDiet national capitalization event which will take place within the Forum of Mediterranean Diet in Imperia. A moment of open discussion, which aims to disseminate the results and outputs achieved by the project at the end of its second year, which includes a conference entitled "The Mediterranean Diet: an excellence model to be enhanced and promoted" conducted by the National Olive Oil Towns Association beginning at 10:30 am and conducted by the journalist Giorgio Dell'Orefice.

After the welcome speeches by Franco Amadeo, President of the Imperia Chamber of Commerce, Giovanni Barbagallo, Councilor of Agriculture of the Liguria Region and Alessandro Pischedda, JTS Communication Officer of the ENPI CBC MED Programme, the introducing speech by Enrico Lupi, President of the National Olive Oil Towns Association and Member of the Steering Committee MedDiet project funded by the ENPI CBC MED programme 2007-2013 will take place. A focus group will follow, which will compare projects and experiences of countries, institutions and organizations with the speeches of Abderrahman Chaffai, General Director of the Agency for Promotion and Investment in Agriculture of Tunisia (APIA), Ettore Ianì, President of the National Fishing League - project leader Ready Med Fish, Donatella Albano, Member of the IXth Committee on Agriculture of the Italian Senate, Ferruccio Dardanello, President of Unioncamere – project leader MedDiet. The conclusions will be held by Andrea Olivero, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry who, together with other national and international institutional representatives attending the event, will be one of the signers of the Declaration on Mediterranean Diet.

"Mediterranean Diet and enhancement of traditional foodstuff - MedDiet" is the strategic project funded by the European Union under the programme ENPI CBC MED 2007-2013. With a total budget of almost 5 million € and a duration of 30 months, the project aims to promote and enhance the Mediterranean Diet, recognized Intangible Heritage by the UNESCO in 2010. In addition to Italy, which is involved with Unioncamere as project leader, the Enterprises Service Center of the Cagliari Chamber of Commerce, the Forum of Ionian and Adriatic Chambers of Commerce and the National Olive Oil Towns Association as partners, the project involves 5 other Mediterranean countries (Egypt, Greece, Lebanon, Spain and Tunisia).
